Our impact

Positive impact

Everything we do at Let’s Get Digital has a mission: to improve events while making a positive impact on people and the environment. What exactly is this impact, and how do we make it? We’ll tell you right here.

Our Sustainable Development Goals

Alongside all of the beautiful developments of the past century, several major global problems have arisen. Think for example of the many people living in poverty, the pollution of our oceans and the rapid increase in global warming. To tackle these problems, the United Nations has introduced the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The desired outcome? A more sustainable world, by 2030.

But unfortunately, this brighter future will not come on its own – it will require cooperation and targeted action from all kinds of different companies, non-profit organizations and governments. To quote a well-known cliché: ”A better future starts with yourself”. That’s why we are committed to having a visible and measurable impact on the SDGs!

Let’s Get Digital and our impact on the SDG’s

Making a positive impact is good, but measuring that positive impact is even better! That’s why we have structured our business operations in such a way that we make as much data-driven impact on the SDGs as possible, based on two impact objectives:

● Making the events industry more sustainable
● Connect and inspire people around the world

We achieve these impact objectives via the internationally used model Theory of Change. This model helps you to think in a structured way to make your impact transparent and measurable.

Making the events industry more sustainable

We love events for a reason. The people you meet, the interesting speakers, the new knowledge you gain; these are just some of the elements that make the total event experience so much fun.

Unfortunately, there’s also a downside, because the negative impact of events on the environment is considerable. Just setting up a physical event location alone produces heavy emissions from all visitors who
travel to it.

With our digital event location, we reduce the negative impact of events step-by-step and increase their positive impact – starting with saving travel time and CO2 emissions!

Every event you organize through the digital event environment, as an alternative to a physical event, saves your visitors travel time, and reduces CO2 emissions across the world. We map these savings with Google’s API, assuming the visitor would take the route Google recommends. Then, we calculate the CO2 emissions of all these trips and communicate them in the form of saved trees.

SDG’s: innovation, sustainable infrastructure and climate action!

Thanks to the digital event location that we’ve developed, we are modernizing how we currently organize events, while at the same time reducing their environmental impact. In this way, we contribute to SDG 9 and 13 together with the events and their visitors! Curious about the strategy behind it? Then take a look at the Theory of Change, and how it relates to this objective.

Connect and inspire people around the world

One of the main reasons to visit events is to meet new people. That’s why our online event environment is designed so that digital networking feels familiar, just like you’re used to from physical events. Network carousel, 1 on 1 (video) calls, connections – it’s all possible. We want to facilitate as many global connections as possible with our digital event environment.

Data-Driven

In addition, all event organizers, event visitors and speakers at these events will receive a personal report with all kinds of insights about the event. So, you as an event organizer will see the exact impact of your event, and as a visitor what your personal impact is, data-driven!

Specifically for the speakers at the event, part of our report consists of data-driven insights into their presentation. For example, at what point was your audience very engaged with your presentation? At what moments did visitors leave your presentation, reducing the overall interactivity? Questions that you could only guess the answer of before, we answer (data-driven) for you! This way, you’ll improve your presentation; step-by-step and data-driven.

SDG 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure

With our goal to connect and inspire people worldwide, we contribute to the realization of SDG 9. Thanks to our digital event environment, we facilitate global connections in a sustainable way and thus increase the positive impact of events!

In addition, we aim to develop a light version of our platform in the coming years. This will make it possible to make connections via our platform for people with a weaker internet connection, worldwide! Curious about the strategy behind this objective? Then take a look at the Theory of Change.
